As an Assistant Professor at IIITDM Kancheepuram, I often reflect on the key experiences that shaped my academic journey. One such formative experience was my visit to the Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) Laboratory at IIIT Delhi, which I had the privilege of undertaking twice—first in 2021 and again in 2023—under the ACM India Anveshan Setu Fellowship.
Both visits were marked by an incredibly welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment, thanks to Prof. Jainendra Shukla and his vibrant research team. Their collaborative spirit and openness to new ideas significantly enriched my perspective and research capabilities. Working with advanced tools such as the Emotiv EEG headset and the Shimmer sensor, I gained crucial hands-on experience that directly contributed to the development of a computational model during my doctoral research. The mentorship I received from Prof. Shukla was instrumental in shaping my technical and conceptual understanding of human-centered computing.
Equally memorable were the interactive seminars, including an inspiring session with Prof. Albert Ali Salah, which broadened my understanding of the field and introduced me to global research trends. Beyond academics, the friendship and hospitality of the HMI lab community left a lasting personal impression.
These immersive experiences have not only deepened my scientific insight but also enabled me to bring fresh ideas and methods into my current teaching and research practice. I remain deeply grateful to the ACM India Anveshan Setu Fellowship and HMI Lab for shaping me into what I am today!
