Welcome to the Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) Lab at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi. Founded by Dr. Jainendra Shukla, our lab is
dedicated to pioneering research in the development of emotionally intelligent interactions in machines.
Inspired by the words of Prof. Marvin Minsky, 'The
question is not whether the intelligent machines can have any emotions, but whether machines can be intelligent without any emotions', our
primary objective is to explore the development of emotionally intelligent interactions in machines. We delve into the fundamental question
of how affective and social contexts shape human behavior and strive to leverage this knowledge to craft computational models enabling emotionally
intelligent interactions between humans and machines. Employing a blended methodology rooted in behavioral and physiological analyses, our research
lies at the intersection of Computer Science, Design, and Psychology.
